Hide Before They Find You is a fictional horror hide-and-seek game made for entertainment only. It does not promote violence, harm, harassment, or dangerous real-world behavior toward any person, group, or animal.
All monsters, events, and scenarios in the game are imaginary. Gameplay involves choosing hiding spots, surviving rounds, and optional leaderboard ranking — nothing in the app should be interpreted as real-world instruction or encouragement.
If you feel uncomfortable, anxious, or distressed while playing, stop playing and take a break. The game is recommended for teens and adults who are comfortable with spooky themes.

Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how Hide Before They Find You ("the App", "we", "us") handles information when you use our mobile game on Android and iOS.

We designed the App to work primarily on your device. Optional online features sync leaderboard scores when you choose to connect to our backend. We do not require you to create an account, and we do not sell your personal data.
Data We Collect
Depending on how you use the App, the following information may be processed:

If Supabase (our backend) is not configured or you are offline, leaderboard sync does not occur and data stays on your device only.
Local Storage on Your Device
The App stores game data locally using AsyncStorage on your phone or tablet. This includes:
- Player profile (nickname, avatar, progress, coins, lives)
- Settings (sound, music, vibration, accessibility options)
- Completed levels, achievements, and premium status
- Cached leaderboard data when offline
This data remains on your device until you uninstall the App, reset progress in Settings, or clear the App's storage through your device settings.
Online Leaderboard (Supabase)
When online leaderboard sync is enabled, the App sends limited game statistics to Supabase (a third-party database service) over an encrypted HTTPS connection.
Fields synced to the leaderboard table:

We use this data solely to show rankings and your place on the leaderboard. We do not use it for advertising, cross-app tracking, or profiling.

What We Do Not Collect
The App does not request or collect:
- Real name, email, phone number, or postal address (unless you contact us directly)
- Precise location or GPS data
- Camera, microphone, or photo library access
- Contacts, calendar, or SMS
- Payment card details in-app (premium is a demo flow; real purchases would be handled by Apple/Google)
- Advertising identifiers or behavioral ad tracking
The App may play sound and use device vibration (haptics) based on your in-app settings. These features do not upload audio or sensor data to our servers.
Children's Privacy
The App includes horror and suspense themes and is intended for a teen and adult audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country).
If you believe a child has provided personal information through the leaderboard or profile features, please contact us and we will take steps to delete the relevant data.
Your Rights & Choices
You can:
- Reset progress — use "Reset All Progress" in the in-app Settings screen
- Change nickname/avatar — edit anytime in Profile
- Play offline — disable network access; core gameplay works without cloud sync
- Request deletion — email us to remove your leaderboard entry (see Contact)
- Uninstall the App — removes locally stored data from your device
Depending on your region (e.g. GDPR, CCPA), you may have additional rights to access, correct, or delete personal data. Contact us to exercise those rights.
Security
Leaderboard data is transmitted over HTTPS. Access to the database is protected by Supabase Row Level Security policies. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure; we work to use industry-standard practices appropriate for a casual game leaderboard.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the App changes (new features, backend providers, or legal requirements). The "Effective date" at the top will be revised when that happens. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated policy.
